It has cost hundreds of millions of dollars to publicize the Kennedy name - and to cover up the reality that virtually all of the Kennedys have been unexceptional in their intellectual gifts. But that doesn’t stop Caroline Kennedy from behaving as if she believes she is royalty. In an interview, she declaims that she has been moved to represent the unwashed masses as their Senator by the events of September 11, 2001 and Barrack Obama’s candidacy. Gee, took her only seven years? Guess she was waiting for the right entry-level job to open up.

Reid: We won’t smell the tourists anymore

The Capitol Visitors Center, which opened this morning, may have tripled its original budget and fallen years behind schedule, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid found a silver lining for members of Congress: tourists won’t offend them with their B.O. anymore.

“My staff tells me not to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway,” said Reid in his remarks. “In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it’s true.”

But it’s no longer going to be true, noted Reid, thanks to the air conditioned, indoor space.

And that’s not all. “We have many bathrooms here, as you can see,” Reid continued. “Souvenirs are available.”

  On the television a moment ago was Barack Obama decrying the greed of bank executives.

  Funny thing: he didn’t mention the hundreds of thousands in “contributions” he received from Fannie and Freddie.

  What hypocrisy.

  I’ve always been of the “hold your nose and vote McCain” school. McCain just doesn’t excite as a candidate. Obama does excite me, but only in the sense that I consider him a threat to the nation’s existence.

  I really don’t understand McCain’s refusal to attack Obama on his 20+ year association with Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the Jew-hating, America-hatihg, white-hating preacher who does elieve in some weird kind of black supremacy.
